London Barndance: July 2020 virtual dance

Lynne Render and Vertical Expression

For the first time since the pandemic lockdown started we managed to get band and caller together in one place, so much of this event came live from Ian and Margaret's garden in Mansfield. Charley roped in a sound engineer friend Simon Dumpleton to control the mixing desk remotely while listening to the Zoom conference and as a result we got the best sound we have managed so far in a virtual dance.

Lynne wrote several dances for this event, concentrating on moves that would work for one or two people dancing in isolation. This turned out to be the start of a growing series: Lynne's Lockdown Contras

La Chapelloise

July's video project was La Chapelloise - a couple dance done to 16-bar jigs. Jake and Anna made a teaching video.
We got 14 video contributions and made a composite video with lots of dancers in different places to show during the event.

Live Event

We recorded the last two numbers so that performers could hear the final result. The video is rather low-res but the audio is not bad at all. Take a look at the July 2020 playlist.
